Our Emergency Dental Care Technology

Dental team looking at an x-ray

A big part of our practice is staying up to date with the latest advancements in dentistry. Our equipment is state-of-the-art, and it allows us to treat you faster, safer, and with less discomfort. Here are some of the tools we’ll use to handle your dental emergency:

Intraoral Camera

This small, pen-sized camera allows your emergency dentist to get a better look at your teeth and gums. In fact, they can even easily share the images with you on a chairside monitor so you always know what is going on.

Digital Radiography

This refers to digital x-rays. They enable our team to catch problems below the surface of your teeth. They are much faster than traditional x-rays and expose our patients to 80% less radiation.

Sterilization Center

One of the biggest risks with a dental emergency is infection, so we always take the extra step to make sure everything we use is clean and sanitized before treatment begins.

Oraspa

This is a special kind of sedation technique that combines touch therapy, music therapy, environmental therapy, and aromatherapy to stimulate and relax all 5 of your senses at once. Our team is specially trained to use it, and we’re the first practice to have it in the state of Ohio. It enables us to calm down even the most nervous and fearful patients with ease.

Frequently Asked Questions

I just knocked out one of my teeth! What should I do?

First, you should call your emergency dentist in Upper Arlington at the Artistry Smile Center. It’s the quickest way to get the care that you need. Try to find the tooth and place it back into your mouth. If you can’t, be sure to keep it wet in a container of milk or saltwater until you can see us.

What is causing my severe toothache?

A constant throbbing or shooting pain in a tooth usually indicates that the sensitive nerve has been damaged. You should call us immediately! The longer you wait, the worse the pain will be, and we may even need to extract the tooth. If you get to us soon enough, we’ll be able to relieve your pain and save your smile.

One of my crowns/fillings just fell out. Can you help?

Yes we can! Try to find your crown/filling and call us as soon as you can. We’ll be able to put it back in place for you! If any broken or jagged teeth have been exposed, be sure to cover them with a cotton ball or dental wax.

Should I ever call 911 for a dental emergency?

Most of the time, no. Many hospitals/clinics will not have the personnel or equipment to handle emergency dental care. You’ll only be able to find those at a dental practice like the Artistry Smile Center. However, if you have injuries to other parts of your body that need immediate attention, be sure to head straight to your local emergency room first. After you are stable, you should still call us.

How can I avoid a dental emergency?

There are 4 basic ways you can prevent dental emergencies:

  • Come see us for regular checkups and cleanings so we can catch small issues before they become big problems.
  • Wear a mouthguard while participating in sports.
  • Avoid chewing on hard things like ice or rock candies.
  • Don’t use your teeth to open bottles or tricky packages.
