If you\u2019re busy, it\u2019s probably hard enough finding time\nto book a dental checkup and cleaning into your schedule, but believe it or\nnot, it\u2019s definitely worth it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you go without brushing and flossing, plaque builds up\non your teeth and gums, eventually hardening into a gross yellowish substance\ncalled tartar. Regular brushing and flossing can get rid of plaque, but tartar\ncan only be removed by a dental professional. If you let tartar sit there for\ntoo long, it can cause severe tooth decay and gum disease that requires more\nexpensive and time-consuming treatment. Now you see you squeezing in a dental\nappointment twice a year can save you time and money in the long run! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Get the Right Toothbrush <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Many adults think they need big toothbrushes to reach all\nthe corners of their mouth, but the truth is that a smaller brush head is\nbetter for cleaning all the nooks and crannies of your teeth. Additionally,\nyou\u2019ll want to choose a brush with medium or soft bristles as opposed to hard\none. Hard bristles can actually wear away at the enamel on your teeth and leave\nyou more susceptible to decay and sensitivity. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Don\u2019t Forget to Clean Your Tongue <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>No matter how much you brush and floss, bacteria can still\nremain on your tongue. Next time you brush your teeth, take a few second to run\nyour brush over your tongue to remove these bacteria. Wait Half an Hour Before Brushing <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You might have heard that you can still enjoy sweets if you\nbrush right after, but ideally you should wait at least half an hour before\nbrushing. Why? If the food you just consumed was acidic, it could damage your\ntooth enamel. Waiting gives your saliva enough time to wash away the excess\nfood particles and neutralize the acids. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">5. Try an Alternative to Traditional Flossing <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Maybe regular flossing just isn\u2019t your thing. Luckily, there\nare multiple alternatives out there.
